Bathing Beauty

IMG 4680This little girl adores her nightly bath time.  Most evenings, she’s signing ‘bath’ before we’re even done dinner. Once she’s in there, I think she could stay in there all night.  Her latest thing is having us close the sliding glass doors so that she can splash to her heart’s content.

Business as Usual

IMG 4657We’re enjoying finally being well enough to get out and do the things we normally do.  This morning we headed over to the Hillcrest Community Centre for their Sunday morning family social and play gym session.

IMG 4661After coming home and having a GIANT 3 hour and 15 minute nap, Gracen and I jumped on the Canada Line and headed downtown.  We walked around for a little bit, visited Chapters, and then picked up Bradley from work when his shift ended.  It feels good to be well again!

Out of the House

IMG 2438
Well, after spending most of the week cooped up, we finally got out of the house and picked up a few things from the grocery store today.  Boy, did it ever feel good to be out!  We may have celebrated by picking out a new pair of sunglasses for Grae. 🙂

Petite Pedicure

IMG 4653I’m not quite sure how this happened…  I blame it on not leaving the house for the last 6 days.  Oopsies!

On the Mend

Knock on wood, but I think we’re finally getting a little better around here.  The fevers, headaches, and body pains seem to be gone, and now Miss G and I are just left with the cold symptoms.  Lucky for Grae, her Papa went out late last night to pick up some all-natural ice pops to soothe her sore throat.  She’s  never had any sort of frozen treat before, so this was a big treat.

The Sickness Continues…

IMG 2409Well…  It seems as though we’ve taken a few steps back today.  Our little lady woke up absolutely burning up this morning, crawled into our bed, and slept with Papa for an extra 3 hours.

IMG 4586Once awake, she plopped down on the couch next to her Mama, munched on a little chunk of apple, and didn’t move much more than that.

IMG 2419The rest of our morning looked like this.

IMG 4589The afternoon looked like this…

IMG 2428And the evening wasn’t much different.  Maybe day 5 will be our day?

Sick. STILL.

IMG 4561We’re still sick.  Ech.  Here a few highlights from day 3 of sickness:

IMG 4559Homemade veggie soup.

IMG 4564Smiles amidst the whining.

IMG 4578A warm bath at the end of the day.

Tomorrow is day 4.  Hopefully the doctor is right and this icky bug will have run its course by the end of the day.

Sick: Day 2

IMG 4538Although we seem to have her temperature somewhat under control now, Gracen’s cough, runny nose, and congestion are in full swing now.  And sadly, I’m doing no better.  In fact, I’ve got all of the same symptoms, plus a wicked headache and all over body pain.  We’re a sorry sight over here.

IMG 4549The good part is that Miss G actually spent some time awake today.  The downside is that it pretty much looked like this.  Uncomfortable, unhappy, and whiny.

IMG 4556And then there was the full-on, defeated cry.

IMG 4553And by the end of the day, Bradley came home to a house that looked like this.  Disaster.  The worst part is that I was too ill to care.  Here’s hoping for a better day tomorrow.

Poor Doodle

IMG 4522Aw, my poor little doodlebug.  Last night I got home from a lovely downtown coffee date with my ladies and heard Grae calling for me in the most pitiful little voice.  It was odd for her to be awake at 11:00 p.m. and I knew that something wasn’t right.  I went in her room to find her absolutely burning up.  We stripped her down, put her in some summer jammies, gave her a dose of Tylenol and some water, and put her back to sleep.  Needless to say, it was a rough night and we ended up with a congested, coughing little heater in our bed for much of the night.

IMG 4527We stayed in bed until 8:30 this morning and when we finally got up, I decided to juice an orange for Miss G in hopes of getting some extra vitamin C into her.  She’s never had juice before, so we thought she’d love it, but it was actually just the opposite – she wouldn’t even try a sip.

IMG 4532She spent the entire day snuggled up and sleeping on us while clutching onto her cold water cup, which for Grae, is very out of character.

IMG 4534We ended up taking her to the walk-in clinic late this afternoon just to make sure that she didn’t have an ear infection and her breathing sounded okay.  Luckily, everything checked out just fine.  The doctor who saw us said that there is a nasty virus going around the Lower Mainland and that it should run it’s course in about 4 days.  Let’s hope our little lady feels better soon!

Grae’s Personalized Colouring Book

IMG 4511Gracen absolutely adores the little colouring book we made for her ‘Christmas in January’ stocking.  She loves pointing out her family members and having me tell her about what’s happening in the pictures.  We’ve already coloured 4 pages today, and it’s still morning!

IMG 3912All we did was take some of our favourite photos of her and her cousins, pop them into Photoshop, and turn them into line drawings rather than photos.  Then I printed them all on card stock, bound them, and that was it!

Here’s a little peek at some of the other pages in the book:

IMG 3917Here’s my cool girl helping her Mama with grocery shopping.

IMG 3915This is my all time favourite picture of Grae and her cousin, Kinslee, who is exactly 6 weeks younger than her.

IMG 3922Of course, her cousin, ‘SuperChay’, had to be in the colouring book.

IMG 3923And here’s one of her cousin Korbin’s pages.

IMG 3921The best part is that while we colour, we can talk about all the fun memories that fill the pages.  This photo was taken when Grae’s cousins came to visit us in Vernon and we all visited the pool for Chayton’s birthday.  I have a feeling these little colouring books will become a yearly tradition in our family.  🙂
