I ♥ This Serious Little Face

IMG 9545Finished off a lovely day by escaping cooking in our 30 degree house and eating dinner on the patio of one of our favourite local restaurants instead.  Now that’s seriously awesome.

“Pickle Village”

This morning we woke to a chilly, grey day and decided to get outside and enjoy the change in temperature.  Miss G happily took the opportunity to wear her favourite {giant} purple toque and we headed down to Olympic Village (a.k.a. “Pickle Village”) to explore.  We definitely don’t spend as much time in the village as we should considering how lovely it is.  With interesting art pieces, a boardwalk lining False Creek, a gorgeous view of downtown, and one of the best natural playgrounds I’ve seen, it’s a great reminder of how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful city.  Here are a few snapshots of our morning…

Showered in Attention

IMG 8445IMG 8432Though we had plans to go to Stanley Park this morning for a big pop-up play date, Brad called as we were headed out the door to let us know the ultimate frisbee tournament he was coaching at was just a few blocks from our house.  Not having time to do both, I let Miss G make the decision… Her choice? The tournament.  I’m willing to guess that Papa + his students + live sports would beat out a playground visit any day.  While we were there, the girls absolutely showered her with attention.  She got hugs, secret handshake lessons, flower crowns, bubbles blown for her, and plenty of in unison ‘Awwwwwww!’s.  It was a good morning.

We’re soaking up every bit of this sunshine while we can.

A Morning at Science World

I can’t even tell you how excited I was to win an annual family pass to Science World from Lisa at The Sprog and VanCity.  Knowing that we only have a few months left here in Vancouver, I am absolutely determined to make the most of the pass. (Rainy day? You know where we’ll be. ☺)   With our package arriving late yesterday afternoon, we headed off this morning for our first visit to Science World in a long time.  G had an absolute blast.

It was also a great spot for me to work on my new personal challenge… using my camera in manual mode only.  With Gracen excited as all get out, the first half of our stops being very dark, and the second half being very well lit,  there were more than enough challenges to try and work around.  Here are a few of my favourite shots…

A Beach Morning

This morning, on the final day of Grandma Charlotte’s visit, we headed down to Stanley Park to soak in the sunshine and crisp ocean air…  The photos say it themselves, but it was lovely.

IMG 8038IMG 8039IMG 8041IMG 8050File all of these lovely things – cool sunshiny mornings, layers and boots, days with grandmas – under things we’ll miss once back in Kuwait.

My Favourite Kind of Morning

IMG 7919IMG 7922IMG 7927IMG 7937This morning was my favourite kind.  Gracen woke up just past 7, we snuggled in bed until we were good and ready to start the day, and we made our way to the kitchen.  She sat on her toddler bench gobbling up wholewheat pancakes with peanut butter, and I threw a mix of green veggies and frozen fruit into the blender with a splash of cold water.  After breakfast, we gathered a blanket, a book, our smoothies and headed off for an adventure in the wagon. I snuck in some exercise by choosing the hilliest routes and made sure to pass by a park so Grae could have a good long play.  Afterwards we made our way to a local coffee shop where Grae slurped up a warm milk and I enjoyed my first iced coffee of the year.  Before heading home, I pulled the wagon {and my little love} through our local market and we filled it up with fresh fruits and veggies. She helped herself to bananas and clementines on the way home, and I enjoyed the sunshine, cool wind, and cherry blossoms overhead.  It was a good day.
